Columns are a custom item with many variables to be considered. Architectural cast stone is not a structural product and should not be treated as one. Any column manufactured by Cates CastStone is designed to have a hallow center to allow for a structural steel support beam. The stone column wraps around this beam to achieve the desired appearance. many things should be considered when designing these column such as structural steel support diameter, style of column (Straight, Tapered, Doric), column finish (Smooth, Fluted, Distressed, Textured with sea shells), column height, outside diameter of column, style of cap and base, what column will sit upon (flush to foundation, brick pedistool).
